Xbox Cloud Gaming: The Future of Cloud Gaming?

The recent deal between Xbox and NVIDIA, as part of the Activision acquisition, is another exciting development in the world of cloud gaming. Microsoft and NVIDIA have signed a decade-long deal that will bring Xbox PC games to NVIDIA’s GeForce Now game-streaming service. This may also see the GeForce Now service become the exclusive streaming partner for future Xbox games.

For gamers, Xbox Cloud Gaming was always my choice for lag-free streams. But with NVIDIA’s new SuperPOD servers bringing RTX 4080 GPUs to challenge my subscription, I am now more excited than ever for the future of cloud gaming. The RTX 4080 GPUs will provide gamers with the highest quality graphics and speed, allowing for faster loading times, smoother gameplay, and more immersive experiences.

Until recently, Google seemed all-in on gaming. Stadia, Google’s cloud gaming service, was announced in November 2019, amid an industry rush to capitalize on the future of gaming. Google’s service allowed gamers to stream games directly to their TV, mobile device, or PC, with no need for a separate gaming console. However, the service fizzled out in 2021, making up only 5 to 10 percent of the cloud gaming market.

The UK regulator has spoken to six companies as part of its investigation into the cloud gaming market. Microsoft and NVIDIA have inked a deal to bring the Xbox maker’s PC games to cloud-gaming service GeForce Now, the companies jointly announced. With the RTX 4080 GPUs, the GeForce Now service promises to provide gamers with the highest quality gaming experience.

Apple has taken issue with the remedies proposed by the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority to open up iOS to more cloud gaming services. Apple currently has a monopoly on the App Store, which restricts access to certain games and streaming services. The UK regulator has proposed that Apple open up the App Store to rival services, to create a more competitive market.

The gaming landscape is changing, and with Xbox Cloud Gaming, it looks like it’s changing for the better. With Microsoft and NVIDIA teaming up to bring Xbox PC games to the GeForce Now game-streaming service, Apple responding to the UK regulator’s proposed remedies, and Google’s fizzled-out Stadia service, Xbox Cloud Gaming may be the future of gaming. With RTX 4080 GPUs, gamers can experience high-quality gaming, with faster loading times and smoother gameplay.
