Nintendo is one of the most beloved and respected gaming companies in the world. From the Game Boy to the Nintendo Switch, the company has crafted some of the most beloved gaming consoles and games. Recently, rumors have been circulating that the company is planning to make a brand new console. Although this could be a great thing for gamers, it could also be a risky move for Nintendo.

The current generation of the Nintendo Switch console is still posting impressive sales numbers, so it would be foolish for Nintendo to potentially throw away all of that hard work by making a brand new console without backwards compatibility. Although the new console could be very impressive in terms of hardware, graphics, and other features, it would be difficult for Nintendo to make the existing game library compatible with future systems.

Super Smash Bros players are hoping that Nintendo decides to update the existing Smash Bros Deluxe edition instead of making a whole new game the next console. The Nintendo Switch has been Nintendo's most successful home console since the days of the Wii, with the home console being well received by new and returning Nintendo fans alike.

However, the company's president Shuntaro Furukawa recently made comments that have led some to believe that Nintendo could be making a new console. Furukawa's comments are also backed up by the release pattern of Nintendo console upgrades. The original Switch released in 2017, with a new version of the console, the Switch Lite, releasing in 2019.

After the announcement, many fans believed that CoD will be on a new and improved console that the company is planning to release in the near future. This was further fueled by rumors that Microsoft offered Sony (the dominant console leader for well over a decade) to bring Call of Duty games to Nintendo platforms if Microsoft's own console, the Xbox, was allowed to host the game.

Although this could certainly be true, Nintendo has yet to make any official announcements regarding a new console. It could be that the company is waiting to see how the Xbox Series X and PS5 perform before making a move. It could also be that Nintendo is simply focused on the current Switch and its upcoming games.

Nintendo has always been a company that does things differently. It wouldn't be surprising for the company to make a console that goes against the grain of what the other companies are doing. We will just have to wait and see what Nintendo has in store for us.
