With versions available for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, Resident Evil 4 Remake launched on 24th March 2023. Remaining faithful to the original title, it also brings in new graphics, updated gameplay, and additional content. But how does it perform on different consoles, particularly the PS5 and Xbox Series X?

It will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S consoles, as well as PC. Though there is a last-gen PlayStation 4 version, this comparison will focus on the current-gen consoles.

From now on, players who have purchased it have the possibility to pre-download it on PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X / S. While the PlayStation 4 version is not part of this comparison, it's worth noting that the PS5 version takes advantage of the console's haptic feedback, 3D audio, and adaptive triggers.

In addition to Xbox Series X|S, Resident Evil 4 is also releasing on PC, PS4, and PS5. The survival-horror remake has seen high-scored reviews with a Metacritic score of 89. However, you may find hardly find any difference when switching between the two modes in Resident Evil 4 Remake on a PS5 or the Xbox Series X.

Some Resident Evil 4 remake fans got the chance to bring home the game early from their local Walmart – one copy for the Xbox Series X and another for PS5. However, those who haven't gotten their hands on it yet may wonder which console to get it on.

Weirdly, enabling the chromatic aberration (CA) setting makes the PS5 version look even lower resolution, whereas on Xbox Series X, it affects the visuals less, making it a better option for players who prefer a sharper image. However, it's important to note that this is a minor issue and doesn't affect the overall gameplay experience.

Broadly speaking, the divide on this will fall between PS5 and Xbox Series X and PC. Resident Evil 4 Remake ray tracing details indicate that both consoles support it. However, the Xbox Series X has better VRR (variable refresh rate) implementation, making it a better choice for those who have a VRR-capable screen.

In terms of performance, both consoles offer fast loading times, smooth frame rates, and impressive graphics. However, some players have reported that the Xbox Series X version has slightly better graphics and frame rates, although this could vary depending on individual preferences and setups.

Overall, both PS5 and Xbox Series X offer great experiences for playing Resident Evil 4 Remake. It ultimately comes down to personal preference and which console you already own. Regardless of which console you choose, you can look forward to a spine-tingling horror experience that stays true to the original game while also offering new twists and turns.
