The beloved franchise is back with more laughs and heart.

As somebody who has to watch a lot of films “for work,” films are sort of a big deal in my house. Most of the movies I see every week are serious dramas or intense thrillers, so when a lighthearted animated film like Despicable Me 4 comes along, it's a refreshing change of pace.

Sometimes, for adults and children alike, it is important to just get away from it all and enjoy some lighthearted, family-friendly comedy. Despicable Me 4 delivers just that, with its quirky characters, hilarious jokes, and heartwarming moments that will make you laugh and maybe even shed a tear.

Another chunk of glossy, silly content rolls out for the Steve Carell-fronted behemoth animation franchise. In this installment, Gru, the supervillain-turned-secret agent, faces a new challenge as he tries to outsmart his high-school nemesis who is seeking revenge.

My name is Sean Anthony Boelman. I am of sound mind and body, and on July 4, 2024, I saw Despicable Me 4 four times in a row in theaters. Each viewing brought new laughs and moments that warmed my heart, making it a truly enjoyable experience.

Steve Carell once again shines as the voice of Gru, bringing his signature humor and charm to the character. The rest of the voice cast also does a fantastic job, bringing the colorful characters to life in a way that will delight audiences of all ages.

Saw this movie at 10pm lol. I liked it, I had some prejudices the first moment I saw the trailer; that it won't be fun, that the characters are too annoying. But in the end, it was really enjoyable and entertaining.

There are three types of animated family films, for me. The first are those that make me want to throw myself out of a window when they're on screen. The second are the forgettable ones that you watch once and never think about again. And then there are films like Despicable Me 4, that are genuinely funny, heartwarming, and worth watching over and over again.

Sure, kids deserve better than a simple-minded piece of 'content,' but DESPICABLE ME 4 is harmless. It may not be the most groundbreaking animated film ever made, but it's a fun and entertaining ride that will leave you with a smile on your face.
