EmuDeck has released a new update that brings back Citra and includes several other changes and improvements. The latest version of EmuDeck brings a new design and new emulators for 3DS. After a short Beta period I covered previously, the EmuDeck team have released EmuDeck 2.3 that comes with the big user interface overhaul. The founder of EmuDeck is crowdfunding EmuDeck Machines, a pair of Linux-based PC game consoles on top of Bazzite, a SteamOS fork that works. EmuDeck is a quick way to set up emulators on your Steam Deck, but it's slowly grown to be an essential app on my main gaming PC.
One of the coders behind that software suite is dipping their toes into branded gaming hardware with the EmuDeck Machines project, now seeking funding on Kickstarter. The EmuDeck team branches from emulation front-ends to mini PCs. With EmuDeck, you can see your emulated games alongside your regular Steam Library and launch them without launching a separate emulator first. Playing 3DS games on the Steam Deck requires a little work. For those unsure of what's required, this guide outlines everything that needs to be done.
