Gaming achievements have come a long way since their inception. Once little nuggets of serotonin, they now give you a virtual sticker for completing tasks or reaching milestones in your favorite games. But what if you want to start fresh and reset your achievements on Steam? Whether you're looking to challenge yourself again or just want a clean slate, there is a way to do it.

The command we'll need to use is achievement_clear. On its own, it doesn't do anything. We need a couple of additional steps to make it work. First, you'll need to open the Steam client on your computer and navigate to the game you want to reset achievements for. Once you're in the game's library page, right-click on the game and select Properties.

From there, navigate to the Local Files tab and click on Browse Local Files. This will open the game's directory on your computer. Look for a file named steam_appid.txt and open it with a text editor. Add a line that says "323900" (without the quotes) and save the file. This will tell Steam which game you want to reset achievements for.

Next, close the game if it's running and open the Steam client again. In the Steam client, go to the Settings menu and select the In-Game tab. Here, you'll need to enable the developer console by checking the box that says "Enable the developer console (~)." Save your changes and close the Settings menu.

Now, launch the game you want to reset achievements for. Once the game is running, press the tilde key (~) on your keyboard to open the developer console. Type in achievement_clear and press Enter. This will reset all of your achievements for that game.

If you want to undo the reset and restore your achievements, you can do so by verifying the game files in Steam. Right-click on the game in your library, select Properties, go to the Local Files tab, and click Verify Integrity of Game Files. This will redownload any missing or corrupted files, including your achievements.

In conclusion, resetting achievements on Steam is a simple process that involves using the achievement_clear command in the developer console. By following the steps outlined above, you can start fresh with your favorite games and challenge yourself to unlock those achievements all over again. So go ahead, give it a try and see where your gaming journey takes you!
