Rumors Abound About the Next Gen Nintendo Console

Recently, rumors have been circulating about the potential release of a new Nintendo console. Nintendo has not yet confirmed the release of such a console, but the speculation has been further fueled by a recent leak from an alleged Pokemon series programmer. It is thought that the console could possibly be released later this year, and may even be showcased with the launch of a new game.

Nintendo has, however, confirmed that it will launch a new console before the year 2100. Nintendo launched a new Switch Lite model in 2019 and it has been speculated that this could be the company’s way of introducing a “mid-gen” console upgrade. But if it has been translated accurately, then the next-gen Switch console could be launched in late 2023. However, at about the same time, Jeff Gertsmann, the former editor-in-chief of GameSpot, released a statement claiming that a new Nintendo console could be released in 2020.

They keep saying that if Nintendo doesn't announce their next gen console this year, it's going to be bad for them. However, this is not the case. According to a recent leak from an alleged Pokemon series programmer, Nintendo's next generation console could be released later this year. This was further supported by a tweet from a Nintendo stock holder that suggested the company was planning to announce a new console soon.

As for the next generation of Nintendo consoles, all we have to go on are rumors which have said that Nintendo cancelled a planned mid-gen console upgrade. There have been some reports that the company could be working on a more powerful Switch console, which could be revealed as early as 2021. Ars Technica speculated that this “and” followed by the redaction is an indication Nintendo is working on new console hardware, but this has yet to be confirmed.

Since Nintendo doesn't have massive game announcements prepared for this year, 2024 or 2025 could be the time for the next Nintendo console to be released. It is also possible that Nintendo may announce the console sooner if they decide to release a new game with a large graphical jump. Taking all previous speculation into consideration, it could be that Nintendo wishes to showcase the graphical jump with their next-gen console.

Nintendo Switch players are sure to be excited to be able to play Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, and other popular titles on their console. If a next-gen console is indeed released soon, then fans will be eager to see what new features and games will become available. Currently, it is unclear if the release of the next-gen console will be delayed, or if Nintendo is planning on releasing a next-gen console soon.
