The violent storming of the U.S Capitol in Washington, D.C. on the 6th of January 2021 was shocking and unprecedented. In the aftermath of the riot, the Department of Justice has arrested at least 1,000 people on charges related to the incident. Among these individuals was an Amtrak employee, Ronald Andrulonis, who skipped work to participate in the riot. John Douglas Wright was also sentenced in a U.S District Court for his part in the riot. Even a former New Jersey State Trooper, Michael Daniele, from Holmdel was arrested and charged with participating in the Capitol riot.

It is not only individuals who are facing consequences for their involvement in the Capitol riot, but also the gaming industry. Former Riot Games executives have launched a new studio, Believer, to create a next-generation open world game. This studio has come out in the aftermath of the riot to create a new game. Riot Games, which is known for its popular game League of Legends, has also changed its pricing model to become more in line with how players should be acquiring champions nowadays.

The riot at the Capitol has also impacted the news organization Unicorn Riot, which has focused its efforts on covering the riot and the events surrounding it. In the wake of the riot, Unicorn Riot revealed that approximately 22 of those arrested were charged with state-level domestic terrorism charges. This news organization has also provided footage of the Capitol riot which has been used to identify individuals who participated in the attack.

The riot at the Capitol has also caused a shift in the game industry where developers are now creating games based on the events of the riot. One such game called “The Siege of the Capitol” is a browser game based on the events of the Capitol riot. This game is free to play and is designed to promote civic engagement and education about the Capitol riot.

The violent attack on the Capitol has also prompted discussions about the need for stricter security measures at political events. The Capitol Police have announced plans to increase security at the Capitol building and other government buildings in Washington, D.C. Additionally, the Department of Homeland Security is proposing a new system to monitor potential threats from domestic extremist groups.

Finally, the Capitol riot has led to a surge in donations to organizations dedicated to fighting against extremism. Organizations such as the Anti-Defamation League, the Southern Poverty Law Center, and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund have all seen an increase in donations in the wake of the Capitol riot. This surge in donations is a sign of hope that the events of the Capitol riot will not be forgotten and that people are committed to combating extremist ideologies.
